PLMA 2010
PLMA 2010 – Volcanic ash could not cloud brilliant performance of Haco/Gutschermühle at the exhibition Amsterdam in late spring – that sounds like tulips, town canals and bustling coffee shops. Amsterdam in late spring is also the venue where world’s private-label buyers meet annually, when the doors of the PLMA-exhibition open. The tension before the show was quite high this year, as nobody could predict how big the influence of the world economic crisis would be on the event. Furthermore, the uncertainty was even higher due to volcanic ash causing the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to close on the day of arrival. For this year’s trade fair presence the team of Haco/Gutschermühle had prepared some novelties. It should be the first big performance under a common roof. Therefore the team around Lukas Eggenschwiler had prepared a renewed communication concept prior to the show, which was stressed by the slogan “get more out of your idea”. A red-white “Stop-CO2”-cereal bar which was developed and produced by Gutschermühle should give the impression that our group makes more out of ideas. The bar was distributed by two eloquent hostesses at our booth. The bar’s concept was so particular because the CO2-equivalents which come into existence from agriculture via transport, production and storage up to delivery to the customer, were neutralized by purchasing CO2-certificates. The concept was appreciated by the visitors and it was positively stressed that we had chosen an integrated model for this study.
Even the salty bars of Narida seemed to attract visitors and after the talks at the trade-show we should still hope that finally the time has come for these kinds of products. Finally it should be reported that this year the number of exhibitors was even bigger than last year, whereas the number of visitors was lower. The reason therefore might be the closing of the air traffic. The quality of the contacts, however, showed how important the presence on this show is for our group.
